Breaking News: Maine Legalizes Same-Sex Marriage!

CNN has reported that Gov. John Baldacci of Maine has signed a bill legalizing same-sex marriage in the state of Maine less than an hour after the state legislature approved the bill. Said Baldacci:

""I have come to believe that this is a question of fairness and of equal protection under the law and that a civil union is not equal to civil marriage."

On Tuesday, Washington City Council voted to recognize same-sex marriages from other states.

Vermont, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusets, Iowa and next New Hampshire. A similar bill has been introduced in Rhode Island, but is not expected to pass this year.
