An old pantoum (I don't think I've put this one up her before):
Killing the Monsters
He was the father of all those who followed him
All those who came after were
echoes of him;
Ripples in a shallow stream.
All those who came after were
stones he cast ahead of me
Ripples in a shallow stream
Shadows in the shaded wood where we lay.
Stones he cast ahead of me
I stumbled and fell; stumble and fall
Shadows in the shaded wood where we lay
Whisper to me, even now.
I stumbled and fell; stumble and fall
Echoes of him
Whisper to me, even now
He was the father of all those who followed him.

OMG. I have read this five times or more in the past few weeks. I have meant to comment on it for quite sometime. This is a powerful, powerful piece of Art. Knowing you, and your life story, I feel even more moved by the significance of each syllable, each word and line.
At times, I get paralyzed reading it because it speaks to me as well on a very deep and personal level.
once again, a very significant pantoum.
:) Keep composing!
Yours,
Peedee
This is actually an old poem recently revised. I'm glad you liked it.
I have not been online much lately. Mostly reading & doing research these days. And working.
Haven't written much lately but have one new story almost finished with a very rough draft. I may put it up Monday.
I just spent the past week at a workshop with fellow teachers and writers. What an inspiration these men & women are for me. Just when I have been feeling overwhelmed by so much negativity, these people reminded me why I work so hard just to do what I do.
I'll post the story Monday. If I don't post it (it's a very rough draft, as I said) maybe I'll email it to you. I'm anxious for you to see it.
I enjoyed the story! Thanks for emailing it to me. Keep them coming.
Your devoted reader,
Ms. P.D. Gourlais
Still working on the story. It's so different for me. Hard for me to connect with it. But something tells me that it's necessary.
